The indie-rock-Traveling Wilburys, The Monsters of Folk, announced their fall tour and will be rolling through Chicago on October 30. This in and of itself is really cool.
Beyond that, though, they are donating $1 of every ticket sold to a local charity (a different one in each tour stop). For Chicago, that local charity is the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights. Way to pick an outstanding charity, Monsters of Folk! (that's completely genuine, absolutely no sarcasm intended) ICIRR is a great organization. They do outstanding work pushing for comprehensive immigration reform; community organizing; and citizenship guidance through the New Americans Initiative.
